 About the Role

Laytons is seeking a Restructuring and Insolvency Partner (Solicitor) to join our Dispute Resolution team.  The successful candidate must have a client following.


 Key Responsibilities

  1. Handle a broad range of complex insolvency and restructuring matters, providing legal expertise and strategic guidance to clients.
  2. Negotiate and draft agreements related to all insolvency matters, including restructuring documents, company voluntary arrangements, administration, and receivership.
  3. Assist the department as a whole in meeting its fee earning targets by providing help, advice and assistance to clients of the department as well as other departments of the firm.
  4. Actively engage with insolvency practitioners, companies, and directors to understand their needs and provide tailored legal solutions.
  5. Keep up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to insolvency and restructuring work in the England and Wales.
  6. Ensure that all matters adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, including anti-money laundering (AML) and compliance procedures.
  7. Mentor and develop junior team members, supervise staff members and carry out appraisals, probation reviews and other supervisory duties.
  8. Develop and maintain strong client relationships, demonstrating a proven track record of client retention and business development and identify opportunities to refer work to other departments.
  9. Assess potential risks associated with insolvency work and provide strategic advice to clients on risk management and mitigation.
  10. Demonstrate consistent willingness to become involved in activities of the firm, including marketing, outside of normal working hours.
  11. Promote good file management.
  12. Understand the importance of time recording and financial control with particular regard to cash-flow control through collection of monies on account and billing procedures.
  13. Ability to work self-sufficiently.
  14. Assist in the development and growth of the insolvency and restructuring practice.
  15. You may also be required to undertake other or additional duties as the firm may reasonably require from time to time.


 Skills and Experience Requirements

- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with strong experience in Restructuring and Insolvency (Contentious & Non-Contentious)

- Exceptional technical proficiency and drafting skills.

- Strong commercial acumen with a keen eye for detail.

- Experience of leading teams to achieve financial and service delivery targets, with a track record of improving financial performance

- Leadership skills, coaching & mentoring

- Able to build and manage client portfolios, generating work for self and team

- Able to plan workloads and resources effectively and prioritise tasks.

- Excellent client care and client support skills

- Excellent interpersonal skills

- Good IT skills with ability to use case management systems.
